X, formerly known as Twitter, is implementing stricter measures against the proliferation of AI-generated videos depicting armed conflicts, particularly those related to recent events in the Middle East. The social media giant's head of products, Nikita Bier, announced that users attempting to present fabricated conflict footage as authentic news could face penalties, including suspension from the platform's creator revenue-sharing program.

Emphasis on Authentic Information During Conflict

Mr. Bier stressed the critical importance of accessing genuine information during wartime. He highlighted that current AI technologies make it alarmingly easy to create misleading content. To address this, X will penalize users who generate and disseminate AI-created videos of armed conflicts without clearly disclosing their artificial origin.

The revised policy targets the creator revenue-sharing program specifically. Users found in violation will initially receive a 90-day suspension from earning money through their posts on X. A second offense could lead to a permanent ban from the platform, now owned by Elon Musk. "We will continue to refine our policies and product to ensure X can be trusted during these critical moments," Mr. Bier stated, underscoring a commitment to improving content integrity.
